In Leith, North
Leith Village as it used to be. It's a gentle stroll from The
Shore up the water, or you can head up Ferry road and turn left
at the petrol station. If you're traveling by bus, The 7, 14,
and 21 will drop you within spitting distance. (Please check the

Eating
& Drinking Guide
2005/6
"Tricky to find, tucked behind Ferry Road, this arty style
bar is definitely worth hunting out for its chilled atmosphere
and very reasonably priced bar food. The premises are divided
in two, with a cosy time warp bar full of Leith locals nursing
their pints and a relaxed modern, minimalist lounge next door.
The lounge, all wooden floorboards and stone walls (hung with
regular exhibitions of photography or modern art) attracts a mixed
crowd of artists, musicians (there are regular live music gigs
and DJ sets) and trendy barflies. As the name suggests, there's
a lovely local vibe to the venue, whether you are a regular or
not, and staff stand by to shoot the breeze. The menu (lunch only)
changes daily and features home made treats such as butternut
squash soup or black pudding & chorizo, followed by sausage
& mustard mash, or brie and redcurrant jelly on delightfully
soft French baguettes. On Sundays, there is a large brunch menu,
with pancakes and maple syrup or full monty breakfast platters
for £5. A qurky alternative to impersonal chain bars with
great cooking and a great buzz."
